Heineken Joins Neighbourly CSR Social Platform
The Heineken Company, the world's most international brewer, recently joined companies such as Starbucks and M&S in becoming one of the latest major brands to begin using Neighbourly.com, a certified B corporation, which connects businesses with local community causes, projects, and charities. The social platform is a tool businesses can use to find causes they care about, manage their contributions, and measure the value of their participation. Since the platform's launch in 2014, businesses involved have pledged almost £2.2m to 481 different causes.
Heineken plans to focus on community engagement efforts, giving its over 2,000 employees throughout its seven UK breweries the option to participate in community causes. The employees will also be able to vote on the causes they care about most to determine which ones the brewer will focus on contributing towards.
According to Heineken UK Corporate Relations Director Jeremy Beadles, the company's sites have been a part of local communities for so long that it was important to him to give back.
"Neighbourly will really help us connect with great local community causes around our sites so we can make sure our community investment has a real local impact, but on a national scale", Beadles said.
